Geography Topic Content
In geography our children learn about physical, human and environmental geography.
In Year 1 they study the seasons, the United Kingdom and local geography, including our school, and they are introduced to the language of geography. Some of their geography is linked with other areas of the curriculum like science and history.
Our Year 2 children learn about oceans and continents, countries and capitals of the UK, island life and Kenya.
In Year 3 they learn about volcanoes and earthquakes, rainforests and countries and capitals of Europe.
Year 4 children study the British Isles, London, Italy, compass points and grid references and local geographical change.
In Year 5 the children learn about Greece, the Chilterns (linking with their local history topic) and mapwork.
Year 6 topics include European countries and capitals, local geography (HS2), geographical change and South America (linked with their history topic, the Mayans, and listed under history).
