Science Topic Content
In science the children learn about a wide range of scientific knowledge and vocabulary, and also how to work scientifically. As they progress through the school some topics are re-visited in more depth.
In Year 1 they learn about animals, plants, seasons, materials and working like a scientist. Some of their work overlaps with their work in geography.
In Year 2 the children study materials, health and growth, healthy living, plants, habitats and life cycles.
In Year 3 they learn about rocks, light, forces & magnets, plants and animals.
Year 4 children study teeth & healthy living, states of matter, electricity, living things and their habitats (including a residential trip to Woodrow High House) and sound.
Year 5 children learn about materials, earth in space, forces, life cycles, growth and change.
In Year 6 the children learn about the circulatory system, healthy living, evolution, electricity and light.
